Audiobook Available

At last, the audiobook for my first book, ‘Not out of fear’ is live. I’m so excited! I’ve been working for months with Audiobooks NZ , who did an awesome job of producing it, and I was lucky enough to have Elisabeth Easther narrate it. An all New Zealand production! So now you can listen to it whenever and wherever. And the plot has a few more challenging choices and mysteries to mull over.

Genesis

Why do an audiobook? Well, I’d been in discussions with Netflix about making ‘Not our of fear’ into a film, and although that didn’t come to anything at the time, I began to wonder what other formats my novel could become. That’s what led me to taking the screenplay script and using that for the audiobook.

Revised Version

The feedback I’d got from Netflix was to streamline the plot, focus on action and sharpen up the dialogue. That’s what they wanted to shape it up for a visual audience. And these are the changes which are now in the audiobook version. I think it’s more engaging and a smoother read without sacrificing the richness of the plot, but you’ll have to be the judge of that!

So, for instance, in the original novel, the main trio never really become friends. This has been changed and the wizard of the group now acts as both mentor and challenger to the main heroine’s ideals which helps bind all of them closer together. By using more dialogue, the themes around growth and finding one’s own path, even if it goes against what everyone else expects, are explored in more depth, which builds richer empathy, I think.

Future

This audiobook isn’t the end. I have plans for more in the series, but I’m keen to expand the formats. The next instalment could be an Audiobook … or you could look forward to a feature film which I would love to bring to life. All future tales in this world will branch off from this current version, and all the new plot choices made will have consequences that won’t become apparent … until they do.

So grab a copy of the audiobook with the link below, and then do me a huge favour and post a review! Thanks!

NOT OUT OF FEAR New ReviewI

I'm over the moon with a new review I've got in for NOT OUT OF FEAR:

Not Out if Fear is an epic book - impossible to put down and full of plot twists to keep your adrenaline pumping right to the end. This is a must read for anyone who loves fantasy.

Nikita Lyons did the review. After I put out a request she volunteered as she is a local in the age range we are targeting and she is also an avid reader. Thanks Nikita.

We're really close to launching the book on Amazon. The ebook has been audited now and we're just waiting for the final tweaks to be made.

NOT OUT OF FEAR Preview available

At last I am at the stage of being ready to release the preview of my first book in the ‘Era of Zether’ series NOT OUT OF FEAR! It’s hard to believe that I’ve probably been working on getting to this point for around four years, and putting up with all kinds of interference, in the best-intentioned sort of way of course, from wannabe editors and other lower mortals in my family. In choosing the magical fantasy genre, I’m wanting to pay tribute to my favourite authors JRR Tolkien and JK Rowling, as well as Roald Dahl and John Flanagan.

The preview raises the curtain on the antagonists, their powers, the ideology of the world I have created and what is at stake for the protagonists. So here you can get a free copy of the first two chapters. I also recommend you take a look at the lore pages on my website to get a deeper understanding of the background and some of the secrets of this intriguing continent and its people.

I’d love to get your feedback, so feel free to post your comments here. And if it means you want to read the whole of my masterpiece, you can sign up for an email notification when the book is available. Its sequel, called THE FALLEN HERO, is not far away, and I’ve included the opening chapter for that at the end of NOT OUT OF FEAR.

Now I have to wait with nervous anticipation to see whether people like it. I’ve always hated that side of things so I’m just going to get back to writing.
